Your pet's vision is important to us. With tonometry we can detect and treat glaucoma and other problems with intra-ocular pressure as quickly as possible. We can test your dog or cat's eyes for excess pressure safely. The tonometry pen is not painful and does not require sedation for your pet.

Glaucoma is painful, and your pet may react by rubbing or pawing at their eyes. It can occur on one or both eyes, and sometimes starts in one and progresses to the other. If glaucoma is not treated it can cause permanent vision loss and even blindness. Pets with eye injuries should have this test done. We recommend that breeds prone to developing glaucoma have this test done annually with their wellness visit. This way we can monitor eye pressure and begin treatment before any problems arise. Please call us if you think your pet is higher risk for glaucoma.

Call us right away if you notice: enlarged or asymmetrical pupils, clouding or opacity of the cornea, red or bloodshot eyes, protruding eyes, squinting, or tearing.
