Are you feeling concerned about your pet’s upcoming surgery?

Bringing a loved one in for surgery is never easy, whether they have two legs or four. At Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic, we understand exactly what you’re going through because we’re pet owners too. Rest assured that we’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that your companion’s procedure is as stress-free as possible.

Pre-Surgical Care

Our surgical care begins with preoperative screening, which helps us to reduce the risk of complications during surgery. We’ll also develop a safe, effective pain management plan to keep your pet comfortable and pain-free – before, during and following surgery.

Surgery

Whether routine or complex, your pet’s procedure will be our top priority. From the moment you arrive, we’ll be there to answer any last-minute questions or concerns you may have, and get your pet settled in and prepped for surgery.

Once safely sedated, our team will complete the surgery as efficiently as possible. As the doctor works, our skilled support staff will be present at all times, assisting with surgery and closely monitoring your pet’s wellbeing.

After Care

After surgery, we’ll carefully relocate your pet to our quiet, comfortable recovery area, where our staff will continue to monitor and reassure your pet.

When you arrive to pick up your pet, we will go over our aftercare instructions, including a plan for pain management.

Surgery doesn’t have to be a source of anxiety, especially if you’ve got the compassionate, experienced team at Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic in your corner. Contact us today and let’s discuss how we can help with all of your companion’s surgical care needs.

Cherry eye is a common condition that affects the tear producing gland located under the lower eyelid, causing it to prolapse, or bulge outward. The condition is hereditary and can affect various dog breeds as well as a few feline breeds. While cherry eye isn’t life-threatening, it does cause unnecessary discomfort. Fortunately, it can be easily treated by a simple surgical procedure.

Cryosurgery is an innovative surgical modality that uses extreme temperature to essentially “freeze” unwanted skin growths so they can be quickly, easily, and painlessly removed. Cryosurgery is a fast, effective, and economical option which does not require the use of anesthesia or traditional surgical techniques.

Cystotomy is a common surgical procedure used to address a number of issues with the urinary tract or bladder. The most common reason for a cystotomy is to remove bladder or urethral stones, but it can also be used to diagnose certain conditions. Cystotomy is performed under general anesthesia with very few complications.

Entropion is a common disorder of the eyelids which causes them to roll inward (inverted) causing pain, swelling, and irritation due to the eyelash or other eyelid hair rubbing on the cornea. Entropion can occur in either the upper or lower eyelid, and in one eye or both. If left untreated, it can cause vision issues, up to and including blindness. While entropion can be managed using medication, surgery is the only permanent solution. If you think your pet is experiencing entropion please don’t wait. Give us a call today!

Gastric dilation volvulus (GDV) also known as “bloat,” “stomach torsion,” or twisted stomach” is a common life-threatening condition that affects many large breed and deep chested dogs but can affect smaller breed dogs due to factors like their anatomy, environment and care.

Signs of GDV may include:

  • Bloated or distended abdomen
  • Excessive drooling/ profuse saliva
  • Retching/gagging
  • Multiple attempts to vomit without producing anything
  • Restless/pacing/panting/anxious
  • Lethargic
  • Shock/depression

If you notice any of these symptoms, call Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic right away. For pets that may be more prone to bloat, gastropexy surgery may be a good preventative option. Ask your veterinarian for details and advice.

Laser surgery uses laser light in lieu of a traditional scalpel to make cleaner, more precise cuts. There are many advantages to choosing laser over conventional surgery, including less bleeding, reduced pain, lower risk of infection, and faster recovery periods. To learn more about laser surgery or to find out if your loved one would be a good candidate, contact Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic today.

Surgical procedures that are not related to bone are considered soft tissue surgeries. Examples of common soft tissue surgeries include removal of lumps or masses and suturing of lacerations. Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic is able to offer a number of advanced soft tissue procedures, many of which would have previously required a referral to a specialist.

Spaying and neutering your pets isn’t just about preventing reproduction. Getting your dog or cat spayed or neutered can ultimately help them live a longer, healthier life. At Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic, we recommend scheduling this procedure at the first opportunity. If you recently adopted a new pet, contact us today to book their spay/neuter appointment.

Stenotic nares is a common genetic disorder caused by a malformation of the cartilage in the nose and is a component of brachycephalic syndrome. Because restrictive airway disorders can be progressive and worsen without treatment, your vet may determine that surgical correction is the best option for treating your pet’s stenotic nares. This procedure is often performed as a preventative measure during spaying or neutering.
